Recognition from industry leaders makes the hard work worth it. We’ve strived to make a difference, not only in our field, but in our community. And the two aren’t mutually exclusive; it’s possible to make great leaps in the world of work and bring people along with you. Our success is their success and our working practices and 1% pledge initiative are testament to this.
Gold Standard
We are really proud to have been graded as a gold standard SME by the ‘Swimming with the Big Fish’ initiative, for the PPP (Programme and Project Partners) at Sellafield. The forward-thinking PPP scheme has been a response to historical issues with SMEs gaining access to long-term contracts. Its 20-year framework of major projects will transform, not only project delivery at Sellafield, but the supply chain and our local community. We look forward to benefiting from successful supply-chain relationships far into the future.
The Highest Endorsement
To achieve the coveted highest ‘Gold’ status, PPP’s Matchmaker Service team assessed and scored us on our ability to successfully secure work and manage large contracts and to invest in people.
During this rigorous scoring process we outlined our extensive knowledge and experience of commissioning complex projects at Sellafield over many years.
We then highlighted our commitment to training, developing and upskilling employees, particularly in areas such as project management and delivery and cyber security. It will also upskill engineers from other sectors and offer training to client employees.
Our social impact work is directed by our 1% Pledge. This includes sharing 1% of net profits among employees each year, giving employees 1% of their time (paid for) for health and wellbeing activities and paying employees 1% of their salary to support their self- development each year. It also involves pledging 1% of the workforce’s time to support charitable and community initiatives, paying 1% of net profits into its charitable foundation, which holds 1% of the SME’s equity. We are also a member of the social enterprise and recruitment brokerage provider Altogether Cumbria and, in addition to volunteer work, sponsor local sporting events.
It is hugely gratifying to have our community work and social impact initiatives recognised as part of this process. We look forward to working with the partners, fellow SMEs and are very excited about meeting our commitments.
