World Menopause Day 2026: Understanding, Awareness and Support

It’s a natural stage of life. That doesn’t mean it’s always easy.

Sunday 18 October marks World Menopause Day, an opportunity to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and encourage greater understanding of a significant life transition experienced by most women as they reach midlife.

Women make up approximately 51% of the UK population, and most will experience menopause during their lifetime.

Yet despite affecting such a significant proportion of society, menopause remains a subject that is too often misunderstood, dismissed or simply not discussed.

At MissionCX, this is a subject close to the hearts of several of our female colleagues, and one we believe deserves greater recognition, understanding and support.

More Than Just a Natural Change

Menopause is a natural biological transition, typically occurring between the ages of 45 and 55, although perimenopause can begin years earlier.

For some women, symptoms are relatively mild. For others, the physical, emotional and cognitive effects can be significant, affecting their health, confidence, relationships and working lives.

Symptoms can include disrupted sleep, fatigue, anxiety, joint pain, mood changes and difficulties with memory or concentration, often referred to as brain fog.

These experiences are real and can have a considerable impact on everyday life.

Menopause is not simply a case of being emotional, overreacting or experiencing ‘women’s problems’.

Dismissing someone’s experience in this way can leave them feeling isolated, misunderstood or reluctant to seek support.

Awareness Makes a Difference

Although menopause is increasingly recognised within healthcare and wider society, there is still work to do to improve awareness, understanding and access to appropriate support.

Recognising symptoms, listening without judgement and encouraging open conversations can make a meaningful difference.

And importantly, menopause awareness isn’t just for women.

Colleagues, managers, partners, friends and family members all have a role to play in creating an environment where people feel understood and supported.

Living Our MissionCX Values

At MissionCX, our values of Unity, Integrity and Innovation guide not only how we deliver projects, but how we treat and support one another.

Unity means looking out for each other and recognising that understanding strengthens our teams.

Integrity means treating people with dignity, empathy and respect, without making assumptions about their experiences.

Innovation means challenging outdated attitudes, embracing greater awareness and being open to better ways of supporting wellbeing.

We believe a supportive workplace starts with understanding, compassion and the willingness to listen.

Let’s Keep the Conversation Going

World Menopause Day is an opportunity to recognise something that affects millions of women and the people around them.

It is also a reminder that no one should feel embarrassed, dismissed or unsupported when navigating a significant change in their life.

At MissionCX, we’re encouraging everyone to take the time to learn a little more, challenge misconceptions and support one another.

Because menopause isn’t something to brush aside. It’s something we should all understand.
