What is Commissioning?
Commissioning plays a critical role in ensuring that complex systems work safely and efficiently before they go live. From nuclear power plants to defence infrastructure, itโs the final step before a project is operational, ensuring safety, compliance, and quality.
What Did We Do?
We ran three interactive speed sessions, giving students an insight into commissioning and its importance across engineering, business, and project management. They also got to explore the Innovation Centre, seeing first-hand how industry professionals work together to shape the future.
Why Does This Matter?
Careers outreach isnโt just about raising awarenessโitโs about giving students the skills, knowledge, and confidence to step into the workplace. As Cumbria is at the heart of the UKโs nuclear and energy sectors, there is a growing demand for engineers, project managers, and commissioning professionals. Engaging with young people early ensures they are inspired, prepared, and supported as they take their next steps.
