We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as finalists for a Golden Apple Award for best industry engagement programme. This accolade is in recognition of our collaborative work with Energy Coast UTC delivering our unique Work Experience programme in 2023. The Golden Apple Awards in association with The University of Cumbria are held annually to recognise and reward excellence in education and learning. The industry engagement award is intended for learning providers that forge relationships with employers and industry to ensure their students are ready for the world of work. Nominations must demonstrate how educators and business leaders work together to provide opportunities for young people or students, equipping them with a range of “work ready” hard and soft skills, helping youngsters secure education, employment and training opportunities.
Our work with Energy Coast UTC was borne out of the involvement of our Directors Ben and Joanne Slater who are Enterprise Advisors for Energy Coast UTC – a hub set up by the government in 2015, with a mission to help every young person to find their best next step.
We look forward to attending the awards ceremony on Thursday, October 12 at The Greenhill Hotel with Energy Coast UTC, and wish all other finalists the best of luck and congratulate you on your hard work and commitment.
Work Experience (WEX) programme 2023 Re-Cap
Why did we get shortlisted as finalists for a Golden Apple Award? Work Experience 2023 was a huge success, which is down to the hard work and effort of our team at MissionCX, Energy Coast UTC and our supporting partners. WEX 2023 took place across 3 locations, over 5 days, with 15 leading organisations, covering 21 topics, delivered to 100 students – resulting in a very impressive figure of over 1000 hours of MissionCX employee time pledged across the work experience week alone. MissionCX clients and partners travelled from all around the UK, keen to impart their knowledge to the local UTC students, providing them with invaluable skills and experiences to get them ready for the world of industry.
WEX 2024 Save the Date
We are pleased to announce that we have now confirmed the dates for WEX 2024 which will be held 1-5 July 2024. Our aim is to enhance last year’s programme by ensuring our work experience programme is as closely aligned as possible to the Energy Coast UTC syllabus. Delivering a programme that works for students in terms of providing them with a real-life snapshot of project delivery, specifically commissioning practices and principles. We are committed to engaging with the bright young engineers of the future, to ensure a pipeline of talent to support the future success of our industry and our local communities.
