Creativity:

Creativity is the complement to Problem Solving, and is about generating innovations or ideas which can then be honed through the problem-solving process. The first few steps (0 – 5) focus on the individual’s confidence in imagining different situations and sharing their ideas. SkillsBuilder intermediate steps (6 – 10) focus on generating ideas – using a clear brief, making improvements to something that already exists and combining concepts.

Individuals then apply creativity in the context of their work and their wider life. They can build off this to develop ideas using tools like mind mapping, questioning, and considering different perspectives. We hope to help students to achieve this by encouraging innovative thinking through project-based tasks and activities.

Skills Builder x MissionCX – Skills For Life

Cumbria Community Foundation Acorn Fund
At MissionCX, we are committed to making a lasting impact across Cumbria through our Acorn Fund, managed by the Cumbria Community Foundation. By pooling donations into the Acorn Fund, we help address growing community needs by providing yearly funding to charitable organisations. Our contributions support disadvantaged children and families, enhance education, employability, and life skills, improve health and well-being, and strengthen vulnerable communities. Our commitment goes beyond financial support—a percentage of our equity, net profit, and our staff’s time and expertise is dedicated to sustaining and growing these initiatives. Through The MissionCX Acorn Fund, we ensure that charitable projects thrive, lives are improved, and communities are strengthened.
Supporting Schools & Careers Programmes
We are proud to serve as Enterprise Advisors for Energy Coast University Technical College, using our industry expertise and networks to help shape future career opportunities. We work closely with local schools, education providers, and Cumbria Chamber of Commerce on careers programmes, ensuring students have access to meaningful career pathways and the skills needed to thrive in the workplace. Our involvement goes beyond advice—we actively collaborate with businesses and education leaders to bridge the gap between education and employment. Through work experience placements, skills development initiatives, and employer engagement, we provide young people with real-world industry experience, helping them take their next steps into successful careers. At MissionCX, we believe in investing in local talent, strengthening our community, and inspiring the workforce of tomorrow.
Supporting Our Community
At MissionCX, we believe in giving back and making a real impact in the communities where we live and work. Our commitment goes beyond financial support—we actively contribute our time, expertise, and resources to a range of initiatives that help people and industries flourish. As Enterprise Advisors for Energy Coast UTC, we visit weekly to mentor students, supporting their development and career pathways. We have committee members in the Nuclear Institute Cumbria Branch, helping to drive growth in the nuclear sector, and we undertake a wide range of schools outreach initiatives in and around Cumbria. We also support local charities and community groups, from sponsoring Walney Rugby and Lindal Bowling Club to fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support. Our team regularly takes part in charity challenges, including the Mighty Hike Walk and Marathon Man's incredible year-long marathon a day challenge, in which our MD joined him for part of his journey. With a strong focus on skills development, volunteering, and charity fundraising, we are committed to ensuring that both our industry and our communities continue to grow, thrive, and succeed.
From Start-Ups to Success: Driving Grassroots Growth
At MissionCX, we know that strong industries rely on thriving local businesses and communities. Beyond structured programmes and charitable giving, we actively support grassroots initiatives, entrepreneurship, and economic growth, ensuring that businesses and organisations flourish alongside us. A key example is ProjectCX, which MissionCX helped bring to life in 2023. As experts in project transitioning, they ensure facilities are fit for operation, embedding best practices for operational readiness, maintenance, and long-term success. We provided branding, facilities, marketing, and operational expertise, helping them establish as a thriving, independent business within our GroupCX partnership. Now, MissionCX and ProjectCX work side by side, offering complementary expertise that seamlessly bridges the gap between commissioning and project handover. Through partnerships with local businesses, social enterprises, and non-profits, we help drive employment, entrepreneurship, and economic resilience. Whether working with small suppliers, supporting local events, or investing in community infrastructure, we are committed to creating lasting impact where we live and work. At MissionCX, we don’t just operate in our communities—we help them grow, evolve, and succeed.
